Bitė Vilimaitė (1943-2014) is an ultimate classic of Lithuanian literature, equally beloved by children and adults. She authored a great variety of esteemed, critically acclaimed works. Every Lithuanian child reads them as a part of the school curriculum. She won every major literary prize and was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts in 2003. Her talent is at its prime in Rojaus Obuoliukai (English Title TBA Spring 2024), a novella originally published in 1981. It is considered to be primarily a children’s book. However, it has universal appeal – it is equally engaging to readers of all ages. Above all, it is a flawless, evergreen part of Lithuanian fiction.
