Bitė Vilimaitė

Bitė Vilimaitė (1943-2014) is a classic author of Lithuanian literature, equally beloved by children and adults. She wrote a great variety of critically acclaimed works, which are still read by Lithuanian children as a part of the school curriculum. She won every major literary prize and was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts in 2003. She is also famous for being mysterious and cryptic, letting her stories speak for themselves. Her talent is at its prime is Rojaus Obuoliukai (Little Apples of Eden), originally published in 1981. Although it is considered to be primarily a children’s book, it appeals to readers of all ages.
